ABOUT

BIO

Down lanes forgotten and highways unknown, the road to here lies ahead. Light wavers and shines across void lands and lost horizons. My art is a window to places lost or not yet found – there is little certainty in my work. Most of my artworks are still images, yet they imply an inherent motion, breaking through beyond the known. My works represent a passageway, toward and away from the transcendent. This trip continues across years of my practice, across a variety of mediums. I am an oil painter primarily, but I work also with charcoal, ink, graphite and film.

There is romanticism in my work, often communicated through stark realism; futility wrought with hopeful meaning. My art is driven of raw emotion and embodies it fully, emerging out of darkness and lifting through the haze. My paintings speak of the sublime and wistful acknowledgement of something beyond.

Out of reach and uncertain, ever present yet ever wavering, the unconscious guides and settles. An implicit dialogue of light and darkness emerges through thunderous void. Illumination lies beyond, often shifting and unclear – it is present, however, radiating across a veil of cloud. The work speaks of a subtle narrative revealed through a formative process, each piece a different aspect of an unknown trek. A voyage pulled through spiralling nebulous forms, found across timeless horizons.

The tacit dualism in my practice highlights a greater truth, a complete universal symbiosis – half shrouded in chaos and absurdity. Horror and awe are one, as silent thunder cries of harmony in motion. Just as all things flux, communication breaks down, and words become lost in the fog. There is permanence in fluctuation, there is certainty of obscurity. In the vast blackness, the light shines on.
